Bio

Yulia Pesin received a double B.A. (Hons.) in History and Psychology from York University in 2008, graduating with summa cum laude distinctions. She earned her J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2011 and was called to the Bar in 2012.

Prior to joining Deo Condominium Lawyers, Yulia was an associate lawyer with two prominent Toronto insurance defence litigation firms. She gained extensive experience as a civil litigator, including acting as co-counsel on two Ontario Superior Court jury trials, co-editing the 2017 LexisNexis Canada Inc. publication of the Ontario Insurance Law & Commentary textbook, and authoring several publications in Claims Canada journal.

Since transitioning her litigation practice to condominium law, Yulia has represented clients at the Human Rights Tribunal, the Condominium Authority Tribunal, the Superior Court of Justice and on appeals before the Divisional Court. Additionally, Yulia engages in solicitor-side condominium work, including corporate governance and compliance matters, chairing of owners’ meetings, negotiation and drafting of contracts, and the preparation of by-laws, rules, policies, and declaration amendments.

Yulia is actively involved in the condominium industry, routinely leading CMRAO-accredited educational seminars for property management companies across Ontario. She is a regular contributor to CondoVoice, the Toronto Law Journal, and the Canada Chapter Community Associations Institute (CAI) newsletter. Furthermore, Yulia serves as a member of the CAI Canada Advocacy Committee and is a returning presenter at the CAI biannual conferences.

Yulia is fluent in Russian. Outside of her legal practice, she devotes her time to her children and husband, as well as her personal community library charity initiative known as "Kai’s Little Library."
